The Bank became the first Community Development Financial Institution in the nation to receive a national bank charter to bring financial services to the under-served communities of San Diego. As such, Neighborhood National Bank is a full-service bank and a catalyst for economic development. In November 1998, Neighborhood National Bank opened its second branch on Sweetwater Road in National City. In August 2005, the pattern of growth continued with the addition of a temporary branch in the Spring Valley area. A permanent Casa de Oro bank branch is projected to open for business in late 2006.
