About Paul Hastings History Throughout its history, Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP has been committed to providing clients with timely, professional service and the highest level of legal counsel. The founding partners, a young group of post-World War II attorneys, established the firm in November 1951 in a modest office in downtown Los Angeles. In creating the firm, Lee Paul, Robert Hastings, and Leonard Janofsky, all graduates of Harvard Law School, set out to develop a practice that could compare in quality with the best of the well established firms in Los Angeles, and later the United States. In 1962, Charles M. Walker, a respected tax attorney, joined the firm, thus, Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker was born. From our earliest days, Paul Hastings' growth as an institution was driven by our founders' vision of creating a legal institution whose services were sought by leading companies and financial institutions around the country and ultimately around the globe, because of our reputation for providing top tier legal services. The firm's expansion beyond Los Angeles was an inevitable consequence of their vision. In 1974, Paul Hastings first ventured outside of Los Angeles to nearby Orange County, California. From there, the firm continued to expand its size and geographic reach to better meet the needs of our clients.
