The new entity was created to accommodate a new, passive equity investor that provides growth capital and business expertise. LM Capital Management Inc. became a holding company with a 65% interest in LM Capital Group, LLC. Luis Maizel, John Chalker, Mario Modiano and Tobias Gorodzinsky continue to own 100% of LM Capital Management, which remains a minority-owned firm. Strategic Investment Group Ventures, LLC (SIGV), owns the remaining 35% interest; SIGV is a joint venture between Strategic Investment Group and the State of California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).
